🩸 THE TRAUMA UPDATE

Getting shot is no longer something you simply walk off.

We’ve rebuilt LightVille’s injury system from the ground up.

Until now, getting shot mainly meant losing health, respawning, and carrying on with your day. That’s changing.

From this update, gunshot wounds have lasting consequences. Damage can stay with your character through deaths, relogs and even multiple days of playing.

What has changed?

Your character now has six separate body areas that can be damaged: the head, torso, both arms and both legs.

Each body part has its own condition, starting at 100 and going down to 0. Damage also accumulates.

One stray bullet might not change much. But after a serious gunfight, you may find yourself dealing with injuries that don't simply disappear when you respawn.

🦵 Legs

Your leg condition directly affects how you move.

  • Below 75: You can no longer sprint.
  • Below 50: You start walking with a limp.
  • Below 25: You can stumble and fall while moving.

💪 Arms

Damage to your arms affects your ability to use weapons effectively.

  • Your accuracy becomes worse.
  • Dual-wielding becomes unavailable.
  • Severe arm damage can prevent you from using two-handed weapons.
  • This means no shotguns, rifles or SMGs if your arms are damaged badly enough.
  • You may be forced to rely on a pistol instead.

🧠 Head & Torso

Head injuries can cause concussion, while serious torso damage can cause your character to run out of breath much faster when sprinting.

🩸 Bleeding

Being shot doesn't just remove health anymore. Gunshot wounds can bleed.

Bleeding is divided into four severity levels. A minor Class I bleed can clot on its own after around three minutes. Class II and above will not.

If nobody treats a serious bleed, it will continue draining your character until you go down. There is no longer a safety floor that prevents this.

Where you are shot matters

  • Arms, legs and head: These wounds can be compressed, and an FMD member can use a tourniquet to stop the bleeding.
  • Torso and groin: These areas cannot be treated with a tourniquet. A medic can pack the wound to slow the bleeding, but only surgery can properly close it.

And if you're already bleeding, getting shot again will make the situation worse.

⚠️ Relogging won't heal you

This is probably the most important part of the update.

Relogging does not reset your injuries.

Your bleeding, damaged limbs and lodged bullets are saved to your character. Leaving the server and coming back is no longer a free trip to a clean bill of health.

Dying works differently too.

Respawning at the hospital will stop your bleeding, but it does not repair your damaged limbs or remove bullets that are still lodged inside you.

🚨 What happens if you go down?

If you are badly injured and go down, getting yourself to the hospital may not always be an option.

With a severe untreated haemorrhage, you may be unable to crawl to safety. If nobody treats the bleeding before your timer expires, you will bleed out and lose everything you are carrying.

Severe bleeding also reduces your available downed timer. A critical bleed can reduce the normal five-minute timer to well under two minutes.

If you're badly hurt, call FMD early.

🔩 Some bullets stay inside you

Not every bullet passes straight through your body. Some rounds can become lodged inside you.

When that happens, the affected body part cannot be healed beyond 60% through normal bandages, medkits or field treatment.

The only way to remove a lodged round is surgery, performed by a qualified FMD surgeon in the hospital operating theatre.

You can choose to carry an injured leg around for days if you want to. Just don't be surprised when it keeps giving you problems.

🦺 Armour isn't full-body protection

Armour protects your torso. It does not protect your arms, legs, head or groin.

Those areas can still take full damage and bleed normally, even while wearing a vest.

Once your vest is finally broken, the shot that breaks it can also be the shot that starts causing bleeding.

🚑 Getting treated

Not every injury requires a hospital visit, but serious injuries will require proper treatment.

Treatment Who can use it? What it does
Bandage Anyone Handles minor bleeding
Medkit Anyone Restores health and handles minor bleeding
Tourniquet On-duty FMD Stops bleeding from the arms, legs and head
Wound Packing On-duty FMD Slows severe chest bleeding
Field Treatment On-duty FMD Restores limbs and stops most bleeding
Surgery FMD Physician or above Full treatment and removal of lodged bullets

Surgery costs $25,000, paid directly to the FMD, and takes a few minutes on the operating table.

Surgery also requires your consent and, obviously, enough money to pay for it.

📋 Check your condition

You can check your current condition at any time using:

/health

The command now gives you a much clearer picture of what's happening to your character. It shows:

  • The condition of each body part
  • How many bullets are lodged in your body
  • Your current bleeding severity
  • Whether a wound can be compressed
  • Whether a wound has already been packed

Check it after a gunfight. Check it before getting into another one.

🎭 What does this mean for RP?

This system is meant to change how gunfights feel in LightVille.

Getting into a shootout should have consequences beyond losing some health and waiting for a respawn.

If you survive a serious gunfight, you may still be dealing with the consequences afterwards. You might have a damaged leg, a concussion, a bleeding wound or a bullet that needs to be removed.

That also gives FMD a much bigger role.

Medics aren't simply a taxi service to the hospital anymore. In a serious situation, they may be the difference between getting properly treated and bleeding out with everything you were carrying.

So when FMD arrives, give them something to work with. Let the injury play out. If you're seriously injured, roleplay it.

Two things to remember

  1. Don't take fights you don't need to take. Damage accumulates and does not simply disappear afterwards.
  2. If you're hurt, say so. Call FMD, get yourself treated and actually play the injury.

📌 A few final notes

  • Existing characters will keep whatever limb condition they already had. If your numbers look strange the first time you log in after the update, they will automatically be corrected into a reasonable range.
  • The balance values are not necessarily final. We will be monitoring the system in live gameplay and adjusting things where necessary.
  • If something feels wrong, tell us. Especially if something feels unfair, rather than simply difficult.
  • If you encounter something that appears broken, report it to staff with as much detail as possible. Tell us what you were doing, what happened and what your /health showed.

Gunfights just became a lot more serious.

Try not to get shot lmao.
