Over the past two days, a lot of you have had trouble logging in. You'd enter your password and nothing would happen, and unfortunately, some players also lost progress after the restarts that followed.
We're sorry about that. We know how frustrating it is to spend time playing, only to have that progress disappear.
What happened?
We found a problem with the way the server was communicating with the database. After running for a while, the connection would start failing, which meant the server could no longer properly load or save player data.
Restarting the server would temporarily fix the problem, but it would eventually happen again.
What's been fixed?
We've now found the actual cause and fixed it.
The server has been running for several hours since the fix with no issues.
We've also added a new safety system that constantly monitors the database connection. If the same kind of problem ever happens again, the server will automatically stop accepting new logins rather than allowing players to play while their progress isn't being saved.
Staff will also be alerted immediately so we can deal with the problem.
Is it safe to play?
Yes. It's safe to log in and play.
Your account and character data are safe, and the server is currently operating normally.
If you lost progress at any point over the last two days, please open a ticket in #help on discord and let us know what you lost and roughly when it happened. Staff will review each case and see what can be done.
We'll be keeping a close eye on the server over the next few days to make sure everything continues running properly.
