The Road Ahead

Before anything else, let me take you back a bit.

LGSA started in 2020 as a YouTube channel posting football mods. A few months later we moved to GTA San Andreas, and out of that came GTA Mzansi: a version of the game that finally looked and sounded like home. Rands in your pocket, SAPS on the streets, minibus taxis. Then came GTAMO, and with it the idea that we could live in that world together, online.

It hasn't always been smooth. Some of you remember moving files into folders and renaming them depending on your phone just to get the game to open. Some of you were there at the end of 2025, when hackers took the server away from us for weeks. We learned from every one of those moments.

And then 2026 happened.

In March, LightVille launched, built from the ground up and properly secured this time. Then the Android launcher came and turned installing the game into a single tap, and it's still the thing I'm proudest of. From there, the city just kept growing. New places, new jobs, new ways to serve, new stories every week, and on 1 October, a whole new look.

And the June holidays. Man. The server was alive in a way I hadn't seen in years. Hundreds of new citizens arrived in a single month, and a lot of you stayed. Gangs ran the streets, patrols were on every corner, medics arrived in seconds, and there were minibus taxis everywhere you looked. Nobody was just standing around at chill spots anymore. For me, this has been the best year LGSA has ever had, and that's entirely because of you.

So thank you. Thank you to every player who logged in, every staff member who gave up their afternoons for shifts, meetings and patrols, and everyone who brought a friend along. A city is just a map until people live in it, and you're the reason this one feels real.

I know most of you are heading into exams now, and some of you are writing matric. Please put that first. LightVille will still be here when you're done, and so will your character. Things will be quieter for the next few weeks, and that's okay. Study hard, and come back to us with good results.

You may have noticed that updates have slowed down lately.

That's not because I've stepped back. For the past few weeks, I've put regular server development on pause. There's always something left to build, but something bigger needed all of my attention.

It's the most ambitious thing I've ever attempted. Bigger than the new gamemode. Bigger than the launcher. It touches how you get into the game, where you play, and what the world looks like when you arrive.

Parts of it are already running on my machine. Watching it come together has been one of the best feelings since this whole thing started.

It isn't ready yet, and I won't show you anything until it's right. You've stuck with LightVille through every version of itself. You deserve the full thing, not a rushed one.

When it's ready, you'll hear it here first.

But I will tell you one thing.

The next update will be the last GTA Mzansi.

The city was never finished, and neither am I.
