You told us, and we listened. Too many of you said the same thing: prices are too high and pay is too low. A new player needed a full day of play just to buy the cheapest car. Meanwhile, a handful of accounts were sitting on half of all the money in the city.
So we rebuilt the economy. Getting started is now much cheaper, and the biggest fortunes now pay their share back into the city. Here’s everything that changed.
🚗 Your first car, in about 4 hours
The Hyundai i20 is now R22,000 (it was R70,000). Every entry car is a lot cheaper:
- Entry cars and motorbikes: about 65% cheaper. The Jetta VR6 Hatch and the PCJ-600 are both R39,000.
- Everyday cars: 20% cheaper. CitiGolf R170,000, Polo R160,000, Corolla R335,000, BMW M3 R490,000.
- Bikes and the Faggio: no change.
- R1m to R3m cars: no change. The Mustang GT, Supra and RS6 stay where they are.
- Supercars over R3m: 10% more. Porsche 911 R3.4m, Land Cruiser R4.6m, G-Wagon R6.05m, Veyron R27.5m.
New players still start with R10,000 cash, R3,000 in the bank and a free starter bike.
🏠 Your own place, in about 10 hours
Apartments are now rented weekly. To move in, you only pay the first week:
- Cheap: R1,862
- Standard: R2,800
- Premium: R8,162
Houses are cheaper too: Standard R100,000 (was R150,000) and Medium R340,000 (was R400,000). Modern stays at R5m, and the Mansion is R11m.
Every house in the city is already owned, so new houses are on the way. Keep an eye out.
💸 Selling your car back
The dealership pays half of whichever is lower: what you paid, or today’s price. If you bought an i20 for the old R70,000, it now sells back for R11,000, the same as one bought today.
Store cars and the free starter bike can’t be sold to the dealership.
📅 Every Friday at 18:00: the weekly bill
Right after payday, the city collects:
- Rent: if you can’t pay your week, you’re evicted and the flat goes back on the market.
- Property tax: 0.1% of your house’s value per week (Standard R100, Medium R340, Modern R5,000, Mansion R11,000). Every house after your first costs double. Miss 4 weeks in a row and you lose your most valuable house.
- Fleet tax: your 3 most valuable cars are free. Every car after that costs 0.5% of what you paid for it, per week.
- Wealth tax: nothing on your first R1 million. Above that, it’s 0.5% per week from R1m to R5m, 1% from R5m to R20m, and 1.5% above R20m. Companies pay it too.
The bill comes out of your bank first, then your cash, and it never puts you below zero. Every rand goes to the Government, which pays for jobs, paychecks and the city.
Taxes start Friday 23 October. Weekly rent starts Friday 30 October. If you’ve already paid for the month, you’re covered until then.
Most players will pay little or nothing. If you’ve got one house, three cars and under a million, your bill is your rent and R100 to R340 of property tax. That’s it.
💼 Pay and XP
- VESA got a raise. Interns now earn R3,000 an hour on duty (it was R2,200), and every rank above them goes up too.
- Bus drivers are now paid in one go at the end of the route. It’s the same total.
- XP now comes with your weekly paycheck, from faction payday and company wages. VIP players keep their XP bonus.
- The 15-minute government subsidy is gone. That money came from nowhere and was pushing prices up for everyone.
- Faction vaults: only the top two ranks can withdraw, up to R250,000 per person per day.
⚡ LightVille Store
Cars sold in the store and at the dealership now have one fair price: 1 Spark = R10,000.
- Everyday cars are much cheaper in Sparks: i20 10, CitiGolf 15, Corolla 35.
- Supercars cost more: Fortuner 430, Veyron 2,750.
- Store-exclusive and rare cars: no change.
Why we did this
New players were finding LightVille, spending a day grinding for a car they still couldn’t afford, and leaving. The city belongs to everyone who plays in it, not just the people who got rich first. Now your first hours actually get you somewhere, every rand that changes hands is tracked, and the more you hold, the more you put back into the city.
